How It Works

This extensive site about the international organization that existed from just after World War I until 1946 offers text and images that describe the League’s aims and activities in detail. Housed at Indiana University, this site could be a great resource for a high school history term paper, or an interesting assignment for the study of World War I.

In the Classroom

Use these images in your classroom to supplement your lectures on the close of World War I. There are images of virtually all of the leaders, in addition to locations, assemblies and more. Putting a face to the name can help students who are more visually stimulated.

In the Classroom

Post this website on the teacher web page to allow students to access it in and out of school. An excellent source of primary documents, the source could be the perfect fit for any student working on a research project in a social studies or literature class. Although the site is mainly focused on Maine, there is plenty of primary information on influential people in history such as Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - to name a few.

English Literature – the Seventeenth Century

How It Works

The Luminarium site provides a very nice collection of 17th century English literature, including poetry, in full-text. There is also biographical information on major authors, as well as a collection of web links for each author. We could do without the musical introductions, but they don’t detract from the quality of this information.

In the Classroom

Use this site as a learning center or station during a unit on this time period within a Language Arts or Social Studies class. Create a "scavenger hunt" through the site, guiding students through the various authors and statesman that had lasting impact on literature. We recommend using a graphic organizer to guide students through the site, using a tool such as Mindomo, (<a href="/single.cfm?id=8178">reviewed here</a>).
