Vivipod is an online video discussion platform designed to record and share conversations that go beyond simple recording, with options to create and share information. Begin by creating a space for your conversations, add a prompt to guide each thread, community members then post a response, and then users comment. When recording, users can share their screen, draw, pause, and auto-save drafts. Login is optional to record, download, and own your video; no account required. ViviPod aligns with FERPA, COPPA, and other student privacy frameworks. ViviPod's current free plan allows 3 Spaces, unlimited Topics and participants, 90-second recordings, video comments, moderation, @mentions, and timestamped feedback. For learners under 13, accounts should be managed through a school or with appropriate consent.

In the Classroom

Use Vivipod in many ways to encourage discussion in any classroom. For example, ask students to share reading responses, math explanations, science observations, and provide quick introductions at the beginning of the year. Use moderation tools as needed when posting responses to ensure that students use proper online etiquette and responses that meet prompt requirements. Because Vivipod is a tool that encourages conversations, use prompts that require students to explain, respond, and react without the need for an in-class discussion. Prompts can require students to respond to a class member's recording or discuss another student's prediction of what might happen during a science experiment.

Affinity is a free professional design application that combines photo editing, vector illustration, and page layout tools into a single downloadable program for Windows and macOS. Students and teachers can use its Pixel, Vector, and Layout studios to edit photographs, create original graphics and logos, design posters or infographics, and produce polished multi-page publications such as newsletters, brochures, and portfolios. Its layer-based tools and customizable workspace make it a strong option for digital art, media, and presentation projects, particularly when students need more precise design controls than a basic online creation tool provides. The core software is free, although some Canva AI features available within Affinity may require a Pro Canva plan, which is free for educators by enrolling in Canva for Education, reviewed here.

Have students turn research from a science, social studies, or health unit into an infographic. They combine a clear title, concise facts, icons, charts, and visuals to teach classmates about topics such as ecosystems, weather, inventions, or historical events. After reading a novel or biography, have students redesign the book cover to show important themes, symbols, setting details, and character traits. They can write a short artist's statement explaining how each visual choice connects to the text. Have students use teacher-approved images to create a visual essay on a school, community, science, or social studies topic. They can edit images, arrange them on a page, and add captions that tell a clear story or support a central idea.

Use the video assistant to select a template and video duration, and adjust other options such as tone and speaker. The video editor provides story cards that you can edit and make adjustments before publication. Choose Generate to publish your video, then share it by copying the link or using the embed code to add it to a website. Free accounts include up to 10 minutes of video per month and 25 AI-generated assists.

By picking an appropriate avatar, they can bring their research paper to life as an animated presentation. Instead of a traditional written book report, students can write a concise script that summarizes a book's themes and conflicts, using the avatar as a "literary critic" to host a digital show.

They can write observations explaining what they notice in slow motion that they could not see at normal speed. Students can record themselves acting out a scene from a story or reading dialogue, then slow down parts to practice expression, pacing, and pronunciation. In PE, health, or science, students can record movements such as throwing, jumping, or balancing. Using slow motion, they study body position and explain how motion, force, or balance works.

HeyGen is an AI-powered video creation tool that generates videos from text, images, or audio clips. You can start with just a script (text), and it will create a talking video from that text without having to film yourself or record voice-overs manually. Choose avatars to become digital presenters who deliver your script. Pick from hundreds of stock video avatars or create a custom avatar that resembles you. HeyGen supports multiple languages and voices, which can be helpful if you teach multilingual classes or provide translations. After creating an account, use the dashboard to begin a project, and follow the prompts to add a script or instructions for the video. HeyGen provides a plan for the video; after approving it, wait for the video to become available. When ready, share the video using the public link, embed code, via social media links, or download to your device. Free accounts allow users to create up to 3 videos per month, each up to 3 minutes long, using standard video processing. In addition, free plans provide access to one custom video avatar and over five hundred stock video avatars.

To build on these visuals, students can integrate their videos into Google Sites, reviewed here to create a digital portfolio or a project-based learning website that showcases their multi-modal storytelling. For a more interactive experience, students might take the audio tracks generated in Flow and import them into Book Creator, reviewed here to produce a "talking" digital book where the AI-composed music sets the mood for each page. This workflow allows students to move beyond basic text and static images, enabling them to create sophisticated digital media that capture complex themes through sight and sound.

In the Classroom

Students could create a short video summarizing a book they've read; this engages them by encouraging creative expression and storytelling skills. Use Padlet, reviewed here for students to create and share videos. Have students view each other's videos, then discuss the variety of perspectives and styles, deepening their understanding of storytelling. Assign students a historical figure to research, then have them create a short "video diary" as that person during a key event. Students can create short videos explaining a science topic, like the water cycle or photosynthesis. In small groups, students create short videos demonstrating how to solve a math problem or explain a concept, like fractions or basic geometry.

Mootion uses AI tools to create video content from your prompts or a completed script. Mootion takes your script of up to 2500 characters and creates a storyboard with images for each paragraph or section of the story. When using a prompt, type in an idea, and Mootion generates a corresponding story. Options include choices of several output languages, style options, and video ratios corresponding to social media options. After adding a prompt or story and making customization choices, click generate to begin the video creation process. You will need to create a free account with Google, Discord, or your email. Each video uses 20 credits; free members receive 200 monthly credits. After generating the video, choose options to regenerate, add assets (your images), animate transitions, or download the video.

Gravity offers a video response tool to promote asynchronous classroom discussions. Use Gravity to record video or audio prompts or create screen recordings to share. Register for an account using your email, then make a community to use as a home for video prompts. Prompts are then created in community folders and shared using a join code. Students join the discussion using the join code and create an account using their email. Free accounts for educators offer unlimited participants and one minute of video recording time.

In the Classroom

Use Gravity to create collaborative discussions on virtually any classroom topic. Challenge students to reflect on their learning at the end of a unit, research project, or literature circle. Here are just a few example questions to ask: What are some things you did well on this assignment? What mistakes did you make on your last assignment that you did not make on today's assignment? What would you do differently? What would you like to learn more about? Create a community folder for student questions; for example, ask students to create a screen-share video to demonstrate questions they have when solving math problems. Since the free version allows for only a one-minute prompt time and a one-minute reply per student, this is a good tool to teach students to be concise when responding, sharing only the important points.
