Chalkie uses AI to generate free teaching resources, including interactive lessons and activities. Start by adding a prompt in the message bar that states the content and type of activity you want to create. Use the prompts to adjust the content to the grade level, reading level, output language, and other options. Additional options include activity types, adding standards and learning objectives, and creating vocabulary lists. The final step before Chalkie generates your activity is to select a theme option, some of which create materials for students who require low stimulation and have ADHD. After Chalkie generates your materials, use the options to edit them as needed. Although registration isn't required to create with Chalkie, a free account lets users share and export materials to Google Slides, PowerPoint, and PDF, and use Teach Mode. Free plans let users create 5 resources weekly, plus up to 10 AI edits each week.

Use Chalkie to create new lessons or to update your current lessons. Easily differentiate materials by adjusting the grade and reading levels you generate. Generate bell-ringers, to-dos, exit tickets, and other quick activities to assess student learning. Use Chalkie as a planning partner to generate a first draft, then review, revise, and adapt the content to fit your students and instructional goals.

Napkin Slides turns any idea into a customizable slide presentation from any prompt. Type or paste your idea, then add an optional source file (such as an Excel, PowerPoint, or Word document) to get started. Slides asks a few clarifying questions to gain additional context, then generates a slide deck based on your responses. Once finished, users can refine slides, including changing text, adjusting image size, and more. When complete, present slides from Napkin Slides or export as a PowerPoint, PDF, SVG, or PNG file. The free plan includes 500 credits weekly; Napkin says it uses about 1 AI credit per word processed, though more complex operations may use more credits. This means the free plan is likely enough to create several lesson presentations each week. For example, if you typically create 8- to 12-slide lesson decks from about 100 words of notes, you could expect to generate around five presentations per week before reaching the 500-credit limit

Napkin Slides currently only allows users to attach Microsoft documents to a prompt; if using Google products, look for options in each file to download as Word, PowerPoint, or Excel documents.

ArcGIS StoryMaps is a web-based tool that helps teachers and students create interactive digital stories using maps, text, images, videos, audio, charts, and other media. Students can use it to show how people, places, events, and ideas are connected, making it useful for geography, social studies, science, history, and research projects. Teachers can also use publicly shared StoryMaps as virtual field trips or engaging introductions to a new topic. Students can create their own StoryMaps to share research, explain a historical journey, investigate a local issue, or present learning in a visual and organized way. Viewing public StoryMaps is free, but creating and publishing StoryMaps usually requires an ArcGIS Online account. Eligible U.S. K-12 schools may be able to receive access through Esri's no-cost Schools Mapping Software Bundle.

Have students explore a teacher-selected public StoryMap about a place, event, ecosystem, or historical topic. As they move through the map, they can record three new facts, one important image or map detail, and one question they still have. They can share their findings in a class discussion or exit ticket. Have students explore a public StoryMap about a historical location, changing community, environmental issue, or migration route. They compare the past and present by creating a Venn diagram with 2 and 3 Interactive Venn Diagrams by Class Tools, reviewed here, or a short written response using details from the StoryMap. Assign small groups different sections of one public StoryMap or different StoryMaps about the same topic. Each group can become an expert on its section, then teach classmates using a brief summary, a map detail, and one discussion question.

Have students choose a new vocabulary word and create one slide with a definition, synonym, or antonym, a visual, and a sentence that shows the word in context. They can use an animated graphic or video background sparingly to help communicate the word's meaning. Small groups can create a short slide deck that explains a scientific process, such as the water cycle, photosynthesis, erosion, or a food chain. Students use visuals and animations to show the sequence of steps, then add captions that explain each stage in clear, accurate language. After reading a novel or short story, have students create a book trailer or character profile using presentation templates, graphics, and background media. They can include key setting details, character traits, conflict, theme, and a recommendation without giving away the ending.

Present incomplete sentences where students choose the correct word or punctuation to complete each one--great for practicing parts of speech and sentence structure. Customize the game with unit vocabulary words. Have students select the best word to complete each sentence to reinforce meaning and context clues. Integrate cross-curricular content (e.g., science facts, historical events, math concepts). Have students complete sentences like "The water cycle includes ____" or "The American Revolution began because ____," helping reinforce learning across subjects.
