Imagine automatically creating a video from a written description. That possibility is now available with InVideo AI, an AI-powered video creation tool that turns ideas into videos in just a few minutes. After creating a free account, enter a detailed prompt describing the video you want to create. InVideo AI generates a script, selects media, adds voice narration, and assembles a video based on your instructions. Once the video is created, you can edit scenes, modify the script, change media, adjust voiceovers, or regenerate portions of the project as needed. When finished, export the video to your device or share it via the available publishing options. InVideo AI can be used to create educational videos, presentations, explainers, social media content, and more. A free plan is available, though it includes limited AI generation time, exports with an InVideo watermark, and restricted access to premium media and features. As with any artificial intelligence (AI) tool, educators should review all generated content for accuracy and appropriateness before sharing it with students.

Create videos for many classroom purposes by writing prompts clearly stating your needs. For example, include the topic, age or grade of students, type of voice (male or female) if desired, and specific vocabulary or information to include. Embed your videos into multimedia tools such as Sway, reviewed here and NearPod, reviewed here to include additional elements of any lesson. Share a link to your video with students to view as a schema activator before a lesson or as a flipped learning activity before introducing new content.

Loom is a screen-recording and video communication tool that lets users record their screen, webcam, or both at the same time. Record your entire screen, a specific window, a browser tab, or your camera, and include microphone or system audio when supported. Loom automatically creates a shareable link for each recording, making it easy to send tutorials, demonstrations, presentations, feedback, or instructional videos. Viewers can leave comments and emoji reactions on shared videos. Loom is available through a Chrome extension, desktop apps for Windows and Mac, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. The free Starter plan currently allows up to 25 videos per person, with recordings limited to 5 minutes each, and includes unlimited screenshots. Free recordings support video quality up to 720p, while paid plans offer higher-quality recording and additional editing, collaboration, and AI features.

In the Classroom

Download and install Loom on classroom computers using Chrome. Have students make screen recordings to share how to use websites or software with their peers. Enhance learning by asking students to create a recording to demonstrate where to find information on a website, or point out specific areas of difficulty when working on a computer. Share a link to videos you create on your website to demonstrate specific instructions on finding information on the computer or how to get started on a computer game. Although only available in Chrome at the time of this review, Loom states that it is working on making the download available for other browsers in the future.

The platform guides you through the process to preview and generate your voiceover. A tutorial video is available to help, but note that if your district blocks YouTube, the tutorial may not be viewable.

Have students select a short historical video or upload a class project, then write and record a voiceover from the perspective of a historical figure (e.g., George Washington, Harriet Tubman). Have students retell a scene from a novel or short story using a new point of view (e.g., the antagonist's or a minor character's) by adding their own voiceover to a related video or slideshow. For ELL or world language classes, students can practice writing and pronunciation by creating voiceovers in a target language. ResponsiveVoice's multilingual features make it ideal for reading scripts in Spanish, French, Mandarin, and more.

In the Classroom

Challenge older students to create their own Animatrons. Students can use Animatron to share their ideas or to "prototype" an idea. Students can create videos to show math processes, explanations of complex concepts, review new learning, teach others, explain scientific processes, tell stories, or present research. Flip your classroom using Animatron presentations. Use Animatron to create teacher-authored animations for students in ANY grade. Animatron is an excellent way to present new information or ideas for discussion. It is an easy way to prepare information for the class when a substitute is coming. Share Animatron creations on your website or blog for students to review at home. Use an Animatron video on the first day of school to explain class rules or give an exciting introduction to the year ahead. Use Animatron to create movies or presentations for back-to-school night or conference nights to display on your interactive whiteboard or with a projector. Teacher-librarians can ask students to create Animatron book reviews to share kiosk style in the library/media center.

This tool is a great way to take videos and add your own voice or add questions within the video. YouTube videos are viewable in edpuzzle even if your school filters block them! Search for educational videos from sites such as Khan Academy and Learn Zillion. Use the sliders to choose the video section, then insert your voice or comment on the video. Create a series of questions to go along with your selected video and insert them into the correct part of the video. There is no need for students to watch the whole video to access the questions at the end. Follow the on-screen directions to chop the video for the section you need, add your voice, and choose where to add text-based questions. Create a class and add students to the class either in the dashboard or after creating the video. Use student codes to access the video. At the bottom of the page, on the far right, click the "Help Center" button. There is also a short demo video hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, find the video you want to use and embed it in edpuzzle. It will be viewable when used through Edpuzzle! The free plan has storage space for 20 video lessons.

Create short review videos or use your own narration with chosen videos to create flipped or blended lessons for your students. Is your school embracing remote learning? This is the perfect tool! Consider the power of students using Edpuzzle to annotate videos to explain the material in their own words. You or your students can use the tool to create and narrate "how-to" videos. Annotate by highlighting the significant features of videos through the creation of voice comments. Students can also create questions to play with each video. Ensure that students create a script to read from before starting their chosen video.
