The Blind Reader’s Page

Creator: | visit site

Grade Range: K - 11

This is a "labor of love" site which has links to hundreds of resources for students who are blind or vision impaired and their families. They include spoken word resources, information on assistive technologies, speech recognition, Braille tutorials, and much more. Unfortunately, the site itself isn’t particularly disability-friendly, but the scope of the resources more than makes up for it.

In the Classroom

Include this site on the Teacher’s web page for parents to reference, or share it with teachers who have blind students. If working on a unit about blindness or the scientific reasons causing it, share the site in an interactive whiteboard or projector. The tons of resources it offers would also be a great source for any student doing a research project on vision impairments. If applicable, share the site on the class web page for such students to access it in and out of the classroom for research purposes.

At Home

Bookmark this site as a reference for information about blindness and also the many resources available to those with limited vision.
